We have the darling Alyssa from Impractical Composition here to share a weekly challenge with us this week. This week's inspiration is a favorite quote of hers by Gordon B. Hinkley.
Hi, Slash Blog friends! I'm Alyssa and I blog over at Impractical Composition, a life style blog about practically everything life related. I'm here today to talk to you about being positive! I love to be positive, in fact I try and post about it weekly! Being positive not only makes you happy as in individual, but it also makes others happy too. When I was younger my mom always reminded me that attitude is everything, It's only now, as I am in my twenties, that I actually believe that saying. I guess there is just something about being a teenager that makes you not believe what anyone else says.
Have you ever noticed that everything goes wrong when you are in a bad mood? And when you have a positive attitude things seem to be just right. Being positive is easier said than done especially when you are in a bad mood, but it's important for everyone to remember that just by putting a smile on our faces, sometimes forcing ourselves to smile, we soon become happy. When I grew up there was a cute song we would sing in church which goes:
If you chance to meet a frown,
Do not let it stay.
Quickly turn it upside down
And smile that frown away.
No one likes a frowning face.
Change it for a smile
Make the world a better place
By smiling all the while.
(LDS Children’s Songbook, 267)
It's such a simple song, but it truly helps us remember that attitude is everything and that smiling can truly change our day and even makes someone else's day brighter. So, for this week's Slash Challenge you might feel a little bit out of your comfort zone. I challenge everyone to make at least 5 strangers smile this week. You don't have to do anything crazy, just smile at someone you walk by on your way to school or on your way to the store. A smile can change someone's day!
We need someone to serve/work with this month. Do you have a great cause that you work with or even just a great idea for us? Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave us some info in the comments below!
